The repeal of ACE (Allowance for Corporate Equity), for tax periods after Dec. 31, 2023, has resulted in some significant and as yet unresolved impacts for businesses. The repeal of the ACE, in the absence of similar measures aimed at corporate capitalization, could actually lead to greater reliance on debt capital.
In his comment in today’s Il Sole 24 Ore, Giuliano Foglia analyzes the consequences of the legislative choice and the differences from the European orientation, also taking into account the EU Commission’s recent proposal for a directive to introduce a bonus rule to support company capitalization that traces, in content, the ACE discipline.
